Andrew Photos

We posted photos of Andrew in the photo gallery.

Mom & Dad are sleeping OK; Andrew has been taking 2 4-hour naps each night (usually 11-3; then 4-8). During the day, he naps for an hour, then spends another hour or so nursing & diapering, and snuggling.

Andrew Reagan Preuss Arrived!!

We now have a new addition to the Preuss family!

On Friday, Nov 16th, Heather’s water broke around 7am — not ruptured; just a leak.   The doctors verified she broke her water, and started her on pitocin that morning to start contractions & induce labor.  Over the next 36 hours, she stayed on pitocin, contractions began, and got strong enough to be considered near active labor, but she didn’t dilate more than 1.5cm (to 3.5 cm overall).  The doctors then prepped Heather for a cesearian section; rolled her into the OR around 12:45, and Andrew was delivered at 1:30am; 8lbs 5oz, 21 inches long.  Heather had C-section complications due to the long contractions & the anesthesia, but was able to recover by about 5am.

Currently, we are at home, and Heather is on medical restrictions.  Andrew is doing great, and trying to get used to the new house & outside world.  Rob is trying to keep us all together.

Here’s some photos.

Buster the Bagel

You came here thinking that there was baby news.   You were wrong.  No news yet. 4 days until due date.  We’re getting anxious in the impatient way, not the neurotic way.

So yesterday we went grocery shopping to stock up before the delivery.  And we see a seasonal favorite — Thomas’s Cranberry Bagels.  They are very festive & tasty this time of year, toasted with some cream cheese, or used as the bottom of an open-faced turkey salad sandwich after Thanksgiving day.  YUM.  We were going to freeze 1 sleeve, and put the other in the bread box.

We ended up going in the hot tub, forgetting to put the sleeve in the freezer, leaving it on the counter, out of reach.  We come in from the hot tub and see Buster looking at the collapsed sleeve of bagels.  4 (plus a little) of the bagels are eaten.   He looks at the bag like “I can’t finish you”.  Then looks at me like, “I’m sorry I ate your people food”.  He stands up and has a bulge in his belly, similar to Christmas 2006.

He slept the rest of the day, and looked like he had a belly ache.  We think that David, who has a penchant for plastic, nudged the sleeve into reach, where Buster could grab it & devour it.   The Bagel, I mean Beagle is on rations now.  And not that happy about it; but he has plenty of carbs to burn off for a few days.

Photos from A-Thons

In the past month, we’ve recieved photos from the 2 A-Thon’s we’ve done in the past year.

November 2006:  Bowling For Children’s Miracle Network…  Our team was the Rapid Thermal Pirates (same as our bowling league name) and we dressed up in matching shirts & bandanas to bowl for the kids.  Rob won prizes for having the most donations during our timeframe, and Laura & I racked up loot for knowing song titles.  :-)

June 2007:  Walkathon for Chittenden County Humane Society…  We went as part of the General Dynamics team (red shirts).  But Rob was on travel so he didn’t get to pick up the shirts.  And Buster doesn’t like to be part of the crowd.
