So we start the wait this week…

By the time most of you read this, it will be November.

We caught the SuperFlu last week; I am still sick, and Rob got the 48-hour version.  He is doing much better than I am.  Don’t catch whatever we got; it hits you hard and fast and ugly.  Enough to forget it was Halloween.   So Rob had to pick up emergency candy on the way home — he got 3 bags.  We got 2 trick-or-treaters tonight.   You know that if we didn’t pick up candy we’d have had 35 kids at the door, and some snotty Jr. High guy in the Scream mask whining.  So we can’t win.  But at least there’s chocolate in the house, and Rob will have some sugary snacks at lunch for a few days.

As the title says, my Dr. gave us the official OK to give birth to Andrew last Thursday, without any concerns he’d be too small.  So we sit, and walk, and wait for labor to begin now.  He still kicks my ribs, and doesn’t feel like he’s dropped.   And it doesn’t look like he has from the photos, either; or maybe I don’t know what I’m looking for.  But lately I do feel like he’s gained a good couple of pounds, and my belly feels like a rock.  And I was able to feel a fist or heel or some type of appendage as he tried to exit the wrong way.  (I have a feeling he’ll be like his Momma; no sense of direction or built-in compass).

So the waiting game begins…The baby pool’s earliest guess is November 11th, so we’ll see how close everyone is.   We’ll leave you with the almost-every-8-days photo…

Late October Update

We’re now almost done with October…

  • We updated the baby page, so feel free to stop on over there…3.5 weeks to go and counting…
  • Birthing Class is done, and we just need to pack our overnight bags.
  • We are inundated with honeybees in our Mums, and ladybugs in our house.  We know ladybugs are good happy insects, but the sheer number of them is a little freaky.  We had 30 of them on our front door the other day.  David likes to try to catch the low-hanging ones.
  • NFL season is upon us, and Rob is not doing too bad in the office pool.  Go Pats Go!
  • Heather’s still excited about watching baseball in the snow.  Go BoSox!
  • Heather’s tried to take up knitting because she needs some type of craft to do while sitting, that can be easily picked up (and then put down), and one that limits sharp needles (she’ll have to postpone her cross-stitch for a few months).  Grandma Fraser tried to teach Heather to knit years ago, but it didn’t stick. Maybe she’ll keep with it this time…
  • Cats are getting sleepy and finding all the cozy spots; Buster loves the smells that stick in the leaves.
  • Rupert is still with us (10 year old goldfish) but his aquarium-mate Roscoe passed away earlier this month.  Just to let everyone know, Rupert has been with Heather since Sr. year of college.  He was a feeder fish originally given out as part of a “fish walk” philanthropy activity Heather’s Junior year; and Michelle originally had him, and gave him to Heather.  He’s been in at least 7 states, and survived multiple moves, and has gone through/eaten/outlived about 11 other gold-fish roommates.

Posting may be more sporadic for a few months, but we’ll try to keep you posted on baby news and other big items as they happen.  Enjoy the fall weather, and the festive seasons ahead!!

A short update.

Here are the updates:

  • Momma’s big. See photo below for proof.  We’re thinking baby’s dropped a bit, or he’s so big he hangs out all over.
  • We like picking apples, and eating cider donuts.
  • Football season is here, and picking our weekly guesses for Rob’s football pool is entertaining.
  • Baby class is almost over (2 more weeks).
  • Heather’s next big project is to do some early Christmas shopping for people (get your wishlists in ASAP!) and to look for really good quality fairy tale compilations & nursery rhyme books.
