I decided that it would be fun to make a mix tape for Andrew.
I’m looking for songs that would be fun to play in the car, that are kid-friendly, but also are good ones for adults to listen to. Enough for 1-2 mix CDs would be great.Â
Some examples I thought of are:
– When I’m Sixty-Four = The Beatles
– Octopus’s Garden = The Beatles
– Mr. Blue Sky = ELO (you may have heard it used in a VW commercial)
– Daydream Believer = The Monkees
– Porcupine Pie = Neil Diamond (yes its real, and yes I like it; the song, not the pie)
– Song Sung Blue = Neil Diamond
– Shiny Happy People = R.E.M
If you have ideas, please send them my way…

I recommend pretty much anything by They Might Be Giants, “Happy Jack” by The Who, and “Henry the 8th” by Herman’s Hermits. And anything recorded by The Muppets

Hey Heather!
Hope the pregnancy is going well. I actually did this when my niece was born (she’s 2 now). I found a bunch of covers of childrens songs by cool people. I think I tracked these down off iTunes- so they should be easy to find. The first CD was more playful (theres some extra ones, too, from another CD I made for a Youth Group retreat)- the second was lullabies (And seriously, Tequila Sunrise- REALLY works. We’ve rocked my niece and my nephews to it.)
