Christmas 2006

This year, we went to Heather’s folks in Maine for Christmas.  We spent Saturday thru Monday @ the house, and had a lot of fun.  We built a puzzle, played some board games, watched football, played SuDoKu, and drank some wine and nog (not at the same time; that’s just gross).

Everyone seemed really happy with their gifts.  Especially Buster.
We went out on Christmas eve to visit some relatives and left the dog at home.  While he was gone, he found his present under the tree, UNWRAPPED IT, OPENED IT, and ATE IT.  It was a box of biscuits.  And he only went through about 1/2 of the box.  But that was enough.  Poor Buster didn’t get any dinner that night because he ate so much “junk food”.

He enjoyed his Christmas — spent most of it sleeping, especially in front of my folks’s fireplace.

Hot Tubbin’

It’s finally done.

We have a tub of hotness.  Which is very relaxing, warm, and chlorinated.
It’s like a bathtub, ready to go whenever you are.  And that’s a really cool thing.

Here are some thumbnails….

Clarkson’s New Mascot?

We found a green & gold sweater on sale that was big enough to fit Buster.  He fills it out well.
He’s been practicing his “You’re not a goalie; you’re a sieve” chant all fall.

More Holiday Carols

On my way home tonight, I listened to more holiday music.  Specifically, 2 different versions of the Twelve Days of Christmas.  One was performed by (I think) the Mormon Tabernacle Choir; the other by Elmo, Bert, Ernie & the Gang @ Sesame Street.  (Yes; I love the Muppets.  Yes; I have 3 Muppets Christmas Albums.  No; I don’t have a problem.)

So I got to thinking about how great it would be to have a whole blog completely dedicated to the Twelve Days of Christmas, and compare what you get in the old one, versus what you get in the S St one, and how much you REALLY get over the 12 days…

But wikipedia beat me to it.  So to save bits & bytes, just go here to check it out.

I can now spend my time wrapping presents, trimming the tree, and prepping for (hopefully) my next post; critiquing the new Muppets Holiday album.  Most of that time will be spent deciphering the new Swedish Chef track.  Wish me luck.

Hearing is Believing…

So ’tis the season for holiday songs, carols, and melodies.

One of my favorites has always been Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee. But, upon listening, I am not really sure that later she’ll have some pumpkin pie…it sounds a lot more like an altogether different type of pie.

Take a listen, and see what you think.

Through the Looking Glass…

Prepare to have a new view…

dsc009111.JPG

Our most recent remodel involved installing a cat door for our basement.  This officially makes us “pet people”.

Why the new door?  Because Buster has a penchant for cat food.  The cats are getting tired of being hungry.  We’re tired of trying to teach Buster to not eat the cat food.  And tired of keeping him in our sights ALL THE TIME so he doesn’t eat the cat food.

The cats have 100% constant access to their nibblin’s.  And they have an additional place to go when the ‘Bus gets all hyper, or when folks come to visit and they don’t feel like being social.  Buster is big enough to stick his head in the door, but only his head.  He’s found it helpful so he can check on the cats when he gets nervous they’re never coming back upstairs.  Don’t worry — Buster can be downstairs in the basement — we just need to be with him.
This should make for a great compromise.
