Big Apple: Here we Went!

This weekend we went to NYC with a bunch of friends.

Friday: Drove down; Saw Fiddler on the Roof; ate midnight dinner @ Hard Rock Cafe Times Square

Saturday AM: Met up with Tom & Melissa @ the Met; Saw the Steuben Society parade; walked through Central Park; ate on Upper W. Side.
The Met was an awesome place. We got to see some ancient Greek & Medieval artwork & sculpture, old musical instruments, and a lot of classic Renaissance paintings. My favorite was the medieval armor — comparing the different countries’ armor, and comparing fat Henry VIII to a normal infantryman. That man was a porker. There were also a lot of quatrefoils hanging around; so I got a few photos for my sisters out there. :-)

Saturday PM: Went to dinner at the Old Homestead Steakhouse in Greenwich Village; went to the Comedy Cellar (saw Colin Quinn); and then went back to the hotel. He wasn’t as hilarious as I would have hoped, but there were plenty of other comedians who definitely made up for it.

Sunday AM: Woke up; got breakfast; drove home.

Had a wonderful time. Would definitely go back again.
PS — they don’t serve fuzzy navels before noon. Can you believe that? I ordered a fuzzy navel with breakfast on Sunday; got nothin’.
That sucked.

Some photos of the trip are in the Albums section. Enjoy.

We’re now Rednecks

Yeah.

We live in Miltucky. We see people drive John Deere tractors to Hannaford’s to go get beer.
Our previous neighbor had a fiberglass bathtub in his backyard.

And we now have a turkey fryer. New album with photos.

Let me know if you’re interested; we’ll let you know the next time we make homemade wings and/or fish&chips.

What’s Really Important….

The news coming out of the Gulf Coast has been bothering me.
Its very sad to see thousands of people struggling to get out of a horrible situation, with limited to no means to help themselves. Most of these news stories involve kids. And that’s so sad to me…

As you also know, I’m a huge animal lover. And some of the news articles discuss leaving pets behind, or having limited means to take care of their pets. That is scary to me too — my 2 kitties are just as special to me as people. And I pray that not only people; but also their pets get evacuated safely.

There is already a lot of speculation in why help is slow coming. There are lots of theories, which I won’t get to here, and I don’t think are appropriate for anyone to vocalize until more people are out of harm’s way.

More importantly; we wanted to help, and we wanted to make sure that families and pets had a chance. So yesterday, after work, we went to the store, and picked up:

  • Chef Boyardee
  • Canned Fruit
  • Goldfish & Ritz Crackers
  • Peanut Butter
  • Bag each of Dogfood & Catfood
  • Bar Soap

We brought it to our county’s dropoff site. And now feel much better.
There are many opportunities to help; The Red Cross is one of them.

Our prayers go out to everyone trying to rescue, be rescued, and rebuild down South.
